OutPatient Conditioning Program
- Aerobic Conditioning: Utilizes Treadmills, ellipticals and pedometers. (tailored to each individual's physical capabilities by monitoring pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation during exercise.)
- Muscular Conditioning:
- Upper extremity dumbbell and stretch band exercises
- "Core" muscle conditioning with Swiss Ball and weekly Pilates classes
- Stretching for flexibility and reducing stiffness
- Daily activity log = accountability = encourages participation
- Nutritional and appropriate Life Style information
Inpatient Conditioning Program
- The hospital inpatient conditioning facility is located on the Oncology unit to be readily accessible for maximum utilization
- Supervision of the inpatient conditioning program is by a trained individual whose sole responsibility is the implementation and administration of the CFFL program.
- Inpatients are transitioned to an outpatient facility when discharged from the hospital
- Goal: Provide a conditioning program to newly diagnosed patients that encourages a sense of control, participation in getting well, and creating a sense of hope early in the psychological experience
